Bawal magsabi ng totoo

November 18th, 2009 admin No comments

Some of the Greek islands at a glance

November 5th, 2009 admin No comments

Koufonissia –,Wholesale replica handbags; a group of three smaller islands –,Replica gucci; are famed for beaches, earning them the title ‘Jamaica of Europe’. Rocky coves embrace blue-green waters, with the only problem being sea access (boats or scrambling over rocks are the answer). Its privacy makes some stretches popular with nudists but, happily, the town beach on the biggest island is easy to get to and wide enough for football matches.

Hydra – The Sea Captain Academy of Hydra is famed throughout the Mediterranean and its naval history is apparent from its picturesque harbour, protected by the tall ramparts and cannon of a scenic fortress – long popular with painters. But most visitors remember it for the fact that its impossible pretty and wheeled transport is banned, making donkeys the way to get around.

Thassos – The ‘Emerald of the Aegean’ is recovering from the forest fires that dulled its greenness in recent years. Hidden away are several character villages, such as Potamia, home to sculptor Polygnotos Vagis, whose work you can admire in a museum.

Skopelos – Home to most of the scenes in cheesefest Mama Mia, Skopelos will not stay little known for long. The island is one of the best for walking thanks to a network of old mule paths crossing its mountainous, wooded interior. Forests of pine give way to carpets of wild flowers and groves of olives trees, with streams of fresh water

Symi – Conde Nast Traveller claims Symi has ‘,Burberry Handbags;the most beautiful harbour in Greece’. White or pastel-coloured houses tumble down the mountainside to the small port of Yialos.

Antiparos –,Mulberry Handbags; Only ten minutes from Paros, this tiny island benefits from the facilities of its big neighbour while enjoying some isolation. Apart from its natural beauty, it’s famed for its massive cave (traditionally visited on donkey but now by tourist coach), a 1440 Venetian fortress and windsurfing.

Skyros – Boyhood home to Achilles, hero of the Trojan war, and burial place of English poet Rupert Brooke, Skyros makes its living from agriculture, sheep and goats. Tourism remains a fringe economy, so the island’s attractions – its varied scenery and wild herds of miniature horses – are all the more inviting.

Paxos – Paxos is an island of olive groves and vineyards, with a rugged west coast full of caves and steep cliffs and an east coast of gentler beaches and pretty villages. The picturesque village of Lakka, on the north coast, sits on a spectacular bay – one of the prettiest in the Mediterranean and very popular with visiting yachts.

Symi – you can only access the island only by boat, it’s an hour’s trip from Rhodes. The architecture and the feeling of the island make it unique in Greece. Cars are not allowed and there are taxi boats and taxi buses which take you to the most amazing beaches such as Agios Georgios, Pedi and Agia Marina.
