whole planet-girdling sets of urban Google maps, house keys, pedometer, TV remote, seismometer, Breathalyzer, alarm clock, video games, radio, bar-code scanner the target list grows by the day. (Via Beyond the Beyond)There is a lot to like about the iPhone. The worst thing about it for me is how it feels in my hand. It’s slick, textureless and slippery. This is an improvement, when I am not using it. Some people will say that I should consider this or that iPhone Chopard Sunglasses cover, but I find that an object should feel right by itself. I mean, when you buy a hammer you don’t want to have to go out and buy a cover for the handle…
aqian100329 Should we be allowed to deafen ourselves | Music | guardian.co.uk With the news that the EU has identified a risk of hearing loss to anyone listening to in-ear music over a volume of 89db, we must consider the way we consume music. Perfect day to stay in and practice guitar. The other day I looked at metronomes for the iPhone and settled on the Dr.Betotte, which has more options and sounds more solid – some of the free ones seem to drift a little. I can program tempi and set up rhythms like bulerias, add triplets and all that good stuff. And if I want to be stealthy I can practice using one of the ear-buds.It rained all night, from Saturday Evening until Sunday Morning. These are the sounds of water dropping onto the dirt from the roof. I am not sure what that sound in the background was. A neighbor’s machine, some kind of insect I had not had my coffee yet.
